Yesterday, October 4, the whole world was cut short of their status messages in Yahoo Messenger. By 12AM of October 4, it seems an automatic update was sneaked in by Yahoo in all Yahoo Messenger softwares online. The end result was: user status messages now have a 39 character length limit. The original limit was around 100+ characters (I lose count everytime haha!). How can you fix it? Find out after the jump!

Many got pissed off when this happened. People couldn’t add long URLs in their status messages therefore limiting the possibilities of personal advertisements. Lovebirds couldn’t leave long “love quotes” for their lover to see when he/she goes online. It seems that a part freedom of expression was temporarily cut off because of this 39 character limit.
I googled this issue a while ago and I found a home-made fix for the bug. It’s posted in a blog called ThinKlear. I used the fix and so far it works. I have yet to see if it will ’cause some problems later on. I advise caution everytime you download stuff from unfamiliar territory, and this fix is no exception. I am just spreading the word that there is now a fix for this dilemma, but it’s your call if you will use it or not. Enjoy!
