At least not yet and probably for a very long time. Aside from the fact that I’m already quite content with my Nintendo DS, there’s still another reason why I’m not convinced to save up for a Sony PSP. Here’s why.
But a little backstory first. Ever since I learned to use the internet as a kid, I surfed a lot of gaming websites to satisfy my hunger for gaming news. But there’s this one particular site that I always visit. In fact, it’s been the only gaming news website I’m visiting for the past few months now. Me and millions of other gamers in the world. The site is called Gamespot.
Read Before Playing
Before I ever play a new game, I always read the reviews first. Gamespot is the site that I trust when it comes to reviews. We simply just agree most of the time when it comes to taste in games. However, I also consider other personal factors into the fray.
Genre
I’m not a fan of Sports games. The only game close to being a sports genre that I play is Mario Kart.
I’m not a fan of Grand Theft Auto. It is a good game yes, but It’s just not my cup of tea.
I’m not fond of first person shooters. The only first person game I ever liked was Metroid Prime for the Gamecube.
But I’m a big fan of role-playing games (RPGs), action adventure games, and some platform and puzzle games. PSP focuses heavily on the sports genre and first person shooter genre, genres which I don’t really like that much.
There are three to four PSP titles that interest me though but the only PSP game I want to play right now is Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, and one game is not enough.
Games Matter
I’m not multimedia crazy, so I could care less if the PSP can play videos by default. It’s the games that matter, and all the top rated games that fall under my favorite genres are exclusively made for Nintendo DS. I can also play videos and music on my Nintendo DS anyway.
No Mario
Now this is just an “icing-on-the-cake” reason but really, I tend to choose the path where the Super Mario goes. Not just because I’m Nintendo fanboy, but simply because I enjoy playing Super Mario games, ’nuff said.
Now don’t you go posting comments here recommending titles of games. No thanks to that. I always do my own research and I already know what’s hot and what’s not in the latest gaming platforms. I don’t need to be educated in gaming.
Simply put, the games that will convince me to eventually buy a PSP hasn’t been created yet. I’m not even sure if they ever will be.

in the end, it is the gamer itself that chooses; the only things his friends ca do is to respect his choice… wahahha…
just like my choice in playing RO when all of my former guildmates are kicking their arses in Granado Espada…

May PS1 na naman ako sa bahay. Saka napagsawaan ko na lahat ng laro sa PS1, I want new games. I’m definitely buying a Wii soon. Any platform with Mario is a reason for me to buy it.
Nintendo DS satisfies my hunger for new and great games.

Both handheld platforms (DS and PSP) have their own titles to help sell their units. I myself also go to Gamespt.com before playing any games. Just like what patatas says “in the end, it is the gamer itself that chooses”.
I own a PSP and my friend has a DS and there are games that I enjoy playing on both platforms but there are more games I enjoy on the PSP.
I suggest that you also get a PSP, you are missing Crisis Core, God of War, Daxter, Patapon, Monster Hunter, and many more.

@kumag
Not really. I’m not interested in those other titles you said. Only Crisis Core, and as I’ve said in my post, one game isn’t enough to make me buy a PSP.
And besides, there’s still so many games I haven’t played properly on my DS. And when I’ve played them all, may Wii pa, which is what I’m buying next.
