Just a few months ago, I bought a new desktop PC setup and I was so excited to install Windows Vista on it. I borrowed my friend’s original Vista Installer to try it out. I fell in love with the visual interface of Vista and I thought to myself that I will never switch back to XP ever again! I even mocked (privately) those who still used XP in their PCs. If only I knew what was in store for me.

Days passed and using Vista was a sight to behold and the interface was so pleasing to the eyes ( my eyes anyway). Then I started installing my usual repertoire of softwares, one by one. Most of them installs fine though I receive some sort of warning or alert every now and then, which I didn’t get on XP. I then started installing my PC games. Ragnarok Online works ok, but then I rarely even touched it since I don’t play as often as before during that time. I got pissed off when my original copy of Sid Meier’s Civilization 4 doesn’t want to run at all, but worked fine when I managed to grab a copy of the Warlords Expansion.
I usually work on my music projects using my PC, but the time I installed Vista, I was on rest mode and wasn’t working on any music yet. So I deferred installing my audio software until I work on a music project.
I eventually received a project days later and so I started installing my Cakewalk, Cooledits and Audigy softwares. This is where things get irritating. After hours and hours of tweaking the sound settings and audio whatnots, and consulting various techie sites and friends, I STILL couldn’t get my usual audio settings to work! I never had a problem with that back when I still used XP! And that’s when I finally decided to make a stand. I reinstalled XP the next day, it’s visually outdated for me, but it works.
Vista is a great eye candy, too bad it’s incompatible with the programs I use with my profession.
