Ever since the opening of Philippine Ragnarok Online’s Valkyrie Server, I have been closely monitoring the status of botting on the server. I’ve also been very vocal about my opinions on what Level Up is doing (or not doing) against bots and how the botters are constantly challenging the gaming company. Although I’m talking about Valkyrie server in general, this may also apply to other servers.
But lately, there have been major changes. The most disturbing change has been the resignation of one of the most prolific members of the Midgard Police (MP). This caused quite a ruckus among the botting populace as it was in a way, a victory for them. Also, there have been a growing number of complaints about MPs sanctioning the wrong accounts, jailing real players by mistake. An act of desperation just so they can say they are doing some jailing? Perhaps, perhaps not.
I realized it was already time to face the truth and not fight a losing battle. What I’m saying is, we as players, must stop fighting bots. The Midgard Police can’t stop them. We can’t stop them. But there is still one who can stop them. Level Up is the only one who can stop them, but is currently being idle.
Reporting bots, jailing and banning them one by one will not work anymore. If you jail one bot, five bot replace him. We are simply no match for an “army” of this size. Let me just clear though, that my personal choice of not botting in Valkyrie server remains the same. I’m not saying we join them either.
This is a war that only Level Up has a chance of winning. What we can do now is be united in pushing Level Up to come up with a more effective patch update that will be the genocide of all the bots. But until then, I highly recommend we just enjoy the game as it is and let Level Up worry about how their game can slowly deteriorate if they do nothing.
And to quote my friend, Woobie,”Botting should not be a player’s problem. Players should be PLAYING”. I can only agree wholeheartedly.
