It’s a-me! Master Diwa as Super Mario is Toycon 2008’s Best Cosplayer for the Videogame Category

Mamma mia! Yey! Yahoo! Hooray! I did it! I have recently been named, Best Cosplayer for Toycon 2008 in the Videogame category for my Super Mario costume. So forgive me for being so euphoric as of this writing. This win is a personal landmark for me as it is the very first time I won a cosplay title for an individual cosplay entry. There are around 200+ individual category cosplayers who joined the cosplay contest at the 7th Philippine Toy Convention 2008 (Toycon).

Cosplayers in the videogame category include a bunch of characters from Pokemon, Final Fantasy, The World Ends With You, Persona, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Ragnarok Online, and RAN Online to name a few. There was also another Super Mario cosplayer and he had a Luigi partner with him. But I still believed in the power of my Mario mascot head! Haha! The other categories included Movies, TV Shows, Anime, Toys, and Chibi.

So what did I win? Well, it’s not cash, but all the same, I got some cool stuff from the sponsors such as shirts, collectible toy action figures, a stack of AA batteries, a set rechargeable batteries with matching charger, an installer of “Tribes” PC game, magazines, a cap, MMORPG installers and a trophy for bragging purposes haha!

I guess after a most unlucky Friday the 13th, fate has been kind to shower me with good luck for this day.
Thanks to my friends Hazy, Dani, AC, and Mica who always believed that I can pull off a win with my Super Mario costume. *hugs* Congratulations to the other winners as well. There you go!
