Yes. It’s not a rumor anymore. It’s actually going to happen. The Eraserheads, the 1990s heroes of the masses will be having a reunion concert on August 30, 2008, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) grounds.

But so many questions linger in my mind with this sudden news. after all these years, why now? And how was this possible?
Former ‘Heads lead singer Ely Buendia’s camp and the other three members Raimund Marasigan, Marcus Adoro, and Buddy Zabala has so much publicized “hate” for each other even years after they disbanded. One would speculate so much in this whirlwind announcement. Have they all finally reconciled on their own? If not, who was responsible for this reunion?
To those who don’t know, Buendia was recently interviewed last March and he was very much against the idea of an Eraserheads reunion. Here’s an excerpt from his interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal:
Do you miss anything about your former band, the Eraserheads?
Ely: “Wala akong nami-miss. I’m very, very satisfied with this band [Pupil]. Marami kaming nagagawang okay. I think matagal pa ang buhay ng bandang ito dahil pare-pareho kami ng trip. At dahil marami kaming fans na sumusuporta sa bandang ito, I’m sure we will have a long life. I’m looking forward to doing more things with Pupil.”
Are you open to the idea of having a reunion with the former E-heads?
Ely: “I don’t think so. No, I’m not open to it now. Medyo malayo pa sa isip ko yung mga ganung bagay.”
Noted music site Philmusic.com also sheds some light. And I quote::
The Rumors:
a) All four Eraserheads (for the uninitiated these are four guys named Ely, Raimund, Buddy, and Marcus) have signed up to perform for a one-night only reunion concert.
b) The concert will be held on August 30, 2008 at the CCP grounds along Roxas Boulevard.
c) The concert is sponsored by “a big company,” who ponied up the big bucks to entice the eHeads to bury the hatchet and get together.
d) The concert will be free. People will sign up on a website to win tickets.
It is also rumored that the entity behind this one-time event is a tobbaco company. It is said that each ‘Head will be compensated 2.5m-10M pesos to pull off this event. With the rumors now facts, it all boils down to one question: Will you watch the Eraserheads reunion concert?
I definitely will.

It says in the Eraserheads mailing list that Marlboro is sponsoring the said concert and the tickets are free to download. So what you do is go to the Marlboro website and sign-up to be included on their “red list”. You need to be 18 years old and older to register. You will also be asked to submit a scanned image of your valid ID (i.e. drivers license, passport, etc.) as proof of your age. Once you’re on the red list, then all you have to do is wait.
