Today’s cosplayer babe is an anime fan, a gamer and totally into anything Japanese.

Come with me as we hear the story of cosplayer babe, Fatima! Read the interview after the jump!
Hi! Tell me something about yourself.
My full name is Fatima V. Abdul Aziz, 19 years old, and I’m currently a graduating student at World Citi Colleges. I’m taking up BS Radiologic Technology full-time and cosplaying part-time. XD I’m very much into everything Japanese. =P

How long have you been cosplaying?
Well I started cosplaying February of last year at the University of Santo Tomas’ Ai No Hi event so that makes it about… 1 year and 9 months. :3
What made you interested in becoming a cosplayer?
I’ve always been an anime fan, and when I got older I started getting into Japanese culture. One day I tried to look for cosplayers thru friendster and I found out that events were being held in the country as well. XD
How do you conceptualize a costume before you have one made?
First of all I have to like the character. And then I consider whether I look good for the part, and then comes the expenses and the hard work.
What are the favorite costumes that you’ve worn?
My favorite costume is my Aya Natsume get up. I believe so far I’m the only cosplayer who has been able to pull off her extra-long blonde hair
and 5 feet long reiki and that makes me very proud. *beams*
What was the most memorable cosplay moment you’ve had?
Hataw Hanep Hero ‘06 because I was wearing my favorite costume and It got a lot of attention. Plus, I got to cosplay with my closest buddies .n_~

How much did you spend for your most recent costume?
My most recent costume was that of Pink Mask from Hikari Sentai Maskman.
spandex:1000+
helmet:800
boots:650
gloves:100
The helmet, boots and gloves had to be customized and naturally that costs a lot! x__x Pero no regrets. XD

What was the most expensive costume you ever made?
My Aya Natsume costume cost me about 5k because the wig alone cost me 2,500 php! x__x
What are the awards / recognitions you’ve won as a cosplayer?
I haven’t won any so far, but hopefully in the “near” future haha! =P
Has anyone ever made fun of you when you cosplay? How do you handle that?
Yes, especially when we cosplay where there are people who are unfamiliar with the art. They call us names but we’re used to it. n__n And of course my family doesn’t understand my passion, they think I’m strange but they support me all they can when they realized they cant stop
me hahaha! >8D
What can you say about the local cosplay community?
We have a lot of very talented artists who take to heart this craft, therefore I am proud to be a part of such a passionate and welcoming community… yay cosplay~!!XD I’ve never felt this at home before haha! XD

Aside from cosplaying, what are your other interests in life?
I’m, how should I say this, addicted to arcade gaming. And I also have a PS2 wherein I channel all my negative emotions into playing fighting games. XD I love music, and I love to cook and draw. I enjoy walking too. =P
What keeps you busy nowadays?
School, because I’m on my final semester, and I’m finding it hard to squeeze my cosplaying into my school schedule. =__=
What games do you play? (Please enumerate)
With my PS2 I like to play Guilty Gear, Naruto, Dead or Alive, King of Fighters and that kiddie game Rampage. XD I’m also absolutely inlooove with Drum Mania and Guitar Freaks. I’m also pretty good at Dance Mania and Pump it Up XD
What are your future cosplay plans?
I currently have my eyes set on I-no of Guilty Gear. =P

What’s your message to the cosplayers out there?
It’s important to remain humble but at the same time competitive..Learn from the crafts of veteran cosplayers and pass the knowledge on to
newbies XD Enjoy being in your costumes while they still fit you,and remember that Individuality is a right. Keep ‘em all,the friends, the lessons, and the memories. =3
